How to Measure?

Getting the perfect fit for your Fly Screens is crucial, and measuring them correctly is the first step. This page provides detailed instructions on how to measure, and helpful tips to ensure you get the right measurements every time.

How To Measure Your Screen

1. Check WIDTH of aperture at a minimum of 3 points and any point that looks to be smaller in size than any other (see diagram below)

2. Check HEIGHT of aperture at a minimum of 3 points and any point that looks to be smaller in size than any other (see diagram below)

(Use the smallest size for WIDTH and the smallest size for HEIGHT)

3. Check your APERTURE is square by measuring CORNER to CORNER (see diagram below)

Example

  • Your smallest WIDTH measurement = 1500 mm
  • Your smallest HEIGHT measurement = 2100 mm
1. Measure aperture side-to-side at the TOP, CENTRE & BOTTOM to confirm proper width
2. Measure aperture top-to-bottom at the LEFT, CENTRE & RIGHT to confirm proper height
3. Measure aperture corner-to-corner to for square.

Measuring/Surveying notes

  • Any – Skirting boards that will need to be cut
  • Any – Protruding door handles too close to the wall
  • If the screen is being fitted to a reveal – Any protruding door handles that may clash with the screen opening (Screen to be set back to avoid)
  • Any – Dado rails
  • Any – Arched walls or ceilings
  • Proximity of the NEW screen to the EXISTING door
  • Any – Underfloor heating
  • What is the floor construction tile/wood/concrete/carpet etc.?

IF - Important Note:

  • IF you intend to sink your screen into a WALL – then you must add that measurement to the screen size.
  • IF you intend to sink your screen into a FLOOR – then you must add that measurement to the screen size.

Sinking into WALL or FLOOR Example:

  • Your smallest WIDTH measurement = 1500 mm – THEN you intend to sink the screen into a WALL on BOTH VERTICAL SIDES by 20 mm each side – (your measurement will be 1500 + 20 + 20 = 1540 mm)
  • Your smallest HEIGHT measurement = 2100 mm – THEN you intend to sink the screen into the FLOOR by 20 mm (your measurement will be 2100 + 20 = 2120 mm)
